Auto Insurance       29 Jan 10

I'd like to see an overhaul on how Auto Insurance is issued. Insure the driver not the car.

There are times when I think it would be convenient if I had a truck.  One of the reasons I don't go out and get one is because of the extra insurance cost it would take for me to add this third vehicle to a family of two drivers.  I first thought I should write this article during the car company crisis.  How could you increase the demand for cars?  Decrease the cost of owning cars.  In my case I don't buy the big truck because I really only need that capability 8 or 12 times a year and prefer a smaller vehicle the rest of the times.  For others they go without an economical little car because they have a need for a truck 8 or 12 times a year.  I propose that if insurance were issued to drivers and covered whatever car they were driving this kind of system would be better than the current system where the insurance covers specific cars.
